Hi Michelle,

Someone stole my copy of Anne Willan's "La Varenne Pratique", and I wanted her instructions/recipe for quiche. Your blog was a fabulous, fabulous substitute. I am inclined to give you an edge for the wonderful story.

Thank you for the time and effort to post the recipe, story and great photos.

This my fallback dessert when there's nothing around and I don't feel like leaving my apartment and walking half a block to buy something! I usually load on more chocolate, though, and always dark- milk chocolate is too sweet, and the bitter of the dark mixes so well with the salt and olive oil. I'm so glad you've started to like chocolate!

I recently had a similar blue problem with a blood orange recipe. The thing is I followed a recipe where the other person got white muffins but mine were blue....the only difference is that I used iodized salt instead of sea salt. Yes, I agree there is a fine line between crisp and burned. Make sure you keep a consistent amount of oil in the pan per pancake, so each pancake has a chance to develop that lovely golden crust.

While mine didn't turn out quite like the picture, it had more of a creamy consistancy, it has fantastic flavor. Smokey sausage, creamy gnocchi and cabbage with a sweet/tart bite from the apples. oh so goooood! Bonus points for being super simple as well.
